LaMarcus Aldridge, born on July 19, 1985, in Dallas, Texas, is an American basketball player who played as a power forward and center. He played two seasons at the collegiate level with the Texas Longhorns. Aldridge was selected as the second overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. After spending nine seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, he signed with the San Antonio Spurs in 2015. In March 2021, he joined the Brooklyn Nets after being released from his contract with the Spurs. However, in April 2021, Aldridge announced his retirement from basketball due to a heart condition called atrial fibrillation that occurred following a game. Known for his mid-range fadeaway shot, Aldridge was selected five times to an All-NBA Team and participated in seven NBA All-Star Games.
